Pearl was listed on Craig’s List as “Free”. This poor girl is just a year old. The good news is that she does not have heartworm! But unfortunately, the vet has found several issues: An enlarged heart with a Grade 4 heart murmur, double cherry eyes, Demodex mange, ear infection, and secondary skin infections.
The saddest part is that Pearl is truly broken. It is a day by day process with her coming out of her shell. We have faith in her that she will trust again. Each day she is learning more and more what a kind, human touch feels like.
Our plan of action for Pearl is as follows: Medicated baths, Ivermectin, Clavomax, TMPS, ear flush, ear meds, and eye meds. Next step is to eliminate her Demodex and skin infections. We will recheck her heart and redo x-rays to see if there are any changes. We will also do an ultrasound to get a better picture of what is going on. Once we are past this we will then do surgery for her spay and eyes.
